Jonathan Mingo Trade to Dallas Cowboys

The wide receiver Jonathan Mingo was acquired by the Dallas Cowboys from the Carolina Panthers just before the 2024 NFL trade deadline, marking a major move by the team. Mingo and a 2025 seventh-round choice were transferred by the Cowboys in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round selection. The Cowboys are dealing with a 3-5 record and injuries, with starting quarterback Dak Prescott slated to miss a minimum of four games owing to a hamstring issue. This trade comes at a time when the team is trying to find a solution.

The career of Mingo, who was selected 39th overall in 2023, has been rocky so far. He had a more promising rookie year with 43 receptions for 418 yards, and this season he only caught 12 passes for 121 yards in nine games. Considering Mingo’s present performance level, many experts and fans were sceptical of the trade’s worth, despite his potential. Considering other recent transactions involving experienced receivers for lower money, some NFL officials even went as far as saying the Cowboys were “fleeced” in the deal.

In an effort to give the Cowboys’ struggling receiving corps a much-needed boost, Mingo will likely compete for playing time with CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks now that he has signed with the team.
